Ryan Takao takes on the Team28 Challenge

Here at PURE, we’ve been running the Team28 Challenge with fantastic results. We have over one-hundred participants, with the majority already enthusing and telling us about their great gains in energy levels and losses of both weight and belly fat, along with changes in body composition.

The Team28 Challenge involves committing to a 28-day Detox Plan. Carefully selected products by PURE help detoxification by nutritionally supporting the body’s natural health-maintaining processes.

One of the earliest participants this summer was Independent Business Owner (IBO), Ryan Takao. Over the last few years, he’d been seeing worsening results in his annual health screening blood-work and so he participated in the Team28 Challenge to improve his health. He told us, “I did it because of my triglycerides and cholesterol levels and I didn’t want to medicate.” And, wow, has he got great results: his triglycerides are down from 323 to 99 and his cholesterol measurement was 224 and is now down to 124 – with improved HDL and LDL levels. As Ryan puts it, “I have gotten my health back naturally.”

But there is more to this story. When we spoke with Ryan, he told us that his father is a physician. “My dad’s numbers had been going in the wrong direction for several years, despite being on medications. When he saw the results I was getting, he was mad at me for telling so many people about the 28-day Detox Plan, but not him. He’s now received his own Detox Kit and has started the Challenge.”

It’s not a surprise that Ryan’s dad wanted to join in: have a look at Ryan’s before and after photos. They speak volumes. The Team28 Challenge is continuing to run throughout September. We’ll be featuring other participants on our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/livepureglobal/

Spice up your cleansing regimen

Herbs are truly a gift from nature. Not only do they add wonderful flavor to dishes, but they offer many health benefits, including the possibility of cleansing the body of harmful toxins.

Spices like turmeric, oregano, ginger, parsley and black and white pepper may have cleansing properties. Many of them can be grown in your backyard or indoor gardens. Consider coupling these herbs with your PURE 7-Day or 28-Day Detox meals to take advantage of their cleansing benefits.

Turmeric is a plant that comes from the ginger family. It contains a phytochemical substance called curcumin which is yellow in color, and is found in a lot of foods from curry to mustard. Studies suggest that curcumin’s antioxidant properties can support overall health. Daily Build has a Bio-Protection Blend that contains turmeric extract.

Add turmeric to soups, rice dishes, vegetables and chicken dishes. Another nice treat is to add 2 teaspoons turmeric, 1 teaspoon ground ginger and a few drops of stevia sweetener to warmed almond milk.

Oregano is widely used in Italian food. A study in the Journal of Nutrition found that oregano, among other dried culinary herbs, contained very high concentrations of antioxidants. The authors stated that in a normal diet, the intake of herbs may contribute significantly to the total intake of plant antioxidants, and can be an even better source of dietary antioxidants than many other food groups such as fruits, berries, cereals and vegetables.1

Oregano adds flavor to broccoli, tomatoes, mushrooms and potatoes. It tastes great sprinkled on chicken dishes as well.

Ginger is considered by many to be one of the best detoxifying herbs. It has been used medicinally for thousands of years for its antioxidant benefits. In fact, it is used in many cleansing programs. The beneficial portion of the plant is referred to as the rhizome, which is the thick underground stem. Metabolic ONE and HealthTrim® Cleanse contain ginger.

To benefit from this herb, try infusing finely chopped ginger root in boiling water. Add lemon juice and stevia sweetener for a refreshing drink, hot or cold.

Parsley’s unique taste comes from a phytochemical called polyacetylene. This herb contains vitamin C, chlorophyll, beta-carotene, vitamin K and folate, which may be used by the body for detoxification. Finely chop parsley and add it to a salad or use it in pesto. Parsley can also be added to juices or smoothies.

Black and white pepper are great flavor agents. They are made from the Piper-nigrum plant. Black pepper is ground from dried, whole, unripe fruit. White pepper is ground from dried, ripe fruit that has had the outer layer removed. Black pepper may help digestion. Black pepper increases your hydrochloric acid secretion, which is necessary for the digestion of proteins and other foods within the stomach.2  MelaTrim, Daily Build, PURE Café, Green Coffee Bean and Metabolic ONE all contain black pepper extract.

Get back on track with a cleansing detox

Let’s face it, we all let our good habits fall short at times and we need to get back on track to eating healthier. If you want to get your body bathing-suit ready or you just desire to feel better, PURE has a detox program for you.

Our bodies come in contact with toxins every day from pollution and pesticides to secondhand smoke, and over time, these can build up in our bodies. Detoxing rids the body of harmful toxins. This practice dates back to at least the ancient Hindus, Egyptians, and Greeks who all used certain foods and herbs to purify and detoxify the body.1 Detoxing not only helps to remove harmful toxins from the body, but it can help us develop healthier habits. The liver and kidneys do a great job filtering and removing toxins from the body naturally, but we can help the process.

How do I know if I need to detox?

Toxins in the body can manifest as headaches, skin issues, bowel problems, weight issues, etc. The decision to detox is usually motivated by a desire to feel better or lose weight. If you experience any of these issues, and you don’t eat a balanced diet or eat an unhealthy diet, it may be time for a detox.

PURE has two detox packs that can help you get those pounds down. The products included in these offer a combination of herbs and botanicals that effectively help facilitate the removal of toxins from the body.*

  1. The Detox Pack. Jump-start your weight loss journey with the Detox Pack. This combination of herbs and botanicals effectively helps facilitate the removal of toxins from the body while supporting your weight loss journey.*
  2. The Detox Plus Pack. This pack was created with two in mind. A combination of herbs and botanicals effectively help facilitate the removal of toxins while supporting your weight loss journey during the 7-day and 28-day detox plans.*

After your detox, share them with us and we’ll send you a Certificate of Achievement to proudly display and encourage others to shed the pounds.

Advantages to detoxing

  • You remove toxins from the body;
  • You will boost energy and mental alertness;
  • You will see results in your body and mood;
  • You will feel better overall.

Is a detox the same as fasting?

No. Fasting involves abstaining from food, usually for a prolonged period of time. If you are detoxing, you are cutting out certain food, but you are still eating. Your body still needs calcium in the diet to maintain healthy bones and teeth, as well as vitamins and minerals, protein and fat. PURE’s Detox Plan incorporates all of these.

Always consult your physician before beginning any weight-loss program. Supplement a detox program with regular exercise and a healthy diet.

Spring cleansing

When the weather warms up and the flowers start to bloom, it’s time for spring cleaning, or spring cleansing. We can finally open the windows and start dusting what has settled over the winter. Along with cleaning the house and swapping out my winter clothes for shorts and T-shirts, I want to be sure I cleanse my body, too.

We live in a toxic environment and our bodies are bombarded with chemicals and other potentially harmful substances on a daily basis. Toxins are found in the food we eat, the air we breathe, and the water we drink. They can also be found in commercially packaged products we buy and probably use every day. These toxins are causing us to be ill.

How do I know if I need to detox?

The following signs may indicate toxic overload in the body. If you suffer from any of these on a regular basis, you might try cleansing and see if they disappear.

  • Low energy
  • Constipation
  • Mental fog or trouble focusing
  • Having trouble losing weight
  • Intestinal or digestive upset

How do toxins enter the body?

Toxins enter the body through inhalation, through our gastrointestinal tract and through our skin.

Things like painting the house, varnishing the furniture, bringing home new furniture, dry cleaning, and cooking are all sources of many indoor air pollutants. Household cleaning products and toiletries contribute to indoor air toxins. We end up inhaling these toxins or absorbing them through our skin. Things like chemicals used in agriculture, fumes, air pollution and many other factors contribute to internal toxins. Consider using natural cleaning products or homemade remedies for cleaning the house.

When we drink caffeine and alcohol, we are ingesting toxins. When we eat bread, cheese and processed meat, we are ingesting salt, saturated fats, chemicals, hormones and antibiotics that all put a strain on the liver. These things can also cause high blood pressure, bloating and kidney problems. Medications, food additives, preservatives, food colorings, sweeteners and flavor enhancers contribute to internal toxins as well.

Detox naturally with HealthTrim® Cleanse.

A CORE4 product, HealthTrim Cleanse is a gentle, natural, non-fasting way to remove harmful toxins from the body through the seven channels of elimination: Blood, Colon, Kidney, Liver, Lung, Lymph, and Skin.

HealthTrim Cleanse includes unique ingredients that support each channel:

  • Blood is supported by Burdock (root), Red Clover (herb), and Dandelion (root & leaf).
  • Colon is supported by Cascara Sagrada (Bark), and Aloe Vera (leaf)
  • Kidney is supported by Dandelion (root & leaf)
  • Liver is supported by milk thistle (seed), artichoke (leaf), and garlic (bulb)
  • Lymph is supported by oregano oil
  • And finally, Skin is supported by dandelion (root & leaf) and green tea (leaf)

HealthTrim Cleanse also helps you meet and/or maintain your weight loss goals. You might be surprised with how much waste you have in your intestines. HealthTrim Cleanse supports clearing out your intestines. HealthTrim Cleanse is one of the products in PURE’s Rally28 weight-loss system, as it supports the elimination of these toxins from the body, promoting digestive health while maintaining normal intestinal microflora.

In addition to supplementing with HealthTrim Cleanse, be sure to eat a healthy diet, get regular cardiovascular exercise, hydrate with water, and eliminate alcohol, coffee, cigarettes, refined sugars and saturated fats, and increase digestive enzymes by eating fruits and vegetables.

Eating leafy greens and sprouted foods may help cleanse your body. Leafy greens, such as arugula, bok choy, endive, kale, lettuce, mustard greens, cabbage, spinach, Swiss chard and wild greens contain vitamins, minerals, phytochemicals, and chlorophyll, which help purify the blood and organs. Bulking up your diet with these foods can help your body. Consider adding several of these to your daily regimen to help create better health and vitality.
