PURE Senior Leadership Retreat – Destination Spain

Congratulations to everyone who qualified for the Senior Leadership Retreat to Spain in September. We are counting down the days until we get to celebrate YOU and your accomplishments in Madrid and Barcelona as we visit the architecture of Gaudi, taste tapas and stroll the cobblestone streets of medieval cities.

Know before you go!

We have so much in store for you on this trip-of-a-lifetime. Below, we share some of the highlights of your trip along with some interesting facts about each site. Plan on dressing in comfortable attire and walking shoes.

The Royal Palace in Madrid

  • Called Palacio Real in Spanish, this building was once the official residence of Juan Carlos, the King of Spain. Today it is used to entertain foreign leaders.
  • The interior has 3, 418 rooms and just under 1.5 million square feet of floor space, making it Europe’s largest palace based on floor area.
  • Inside you’ll see priceless art, paintings, frescoes, watches, porcelain and many other treasures including the world’s only complete Stradivarius sting quintet.

Toledo

  • This medieval city is relatively small and can be crossed in 45 minutes, so you are never too far from the center.
  • You might want to purchase gold and black enamel work by local artisans or a conquistador sword, something they are well-known for. In fact, the most famous Hollywood weapons (from Gladiator, Lord of the Rings) are from Toledo.
  • The Cathedral of Toledo is the second richest temple in the world after Saint Peter’s Basilica in Rome.
  • El Greco’s masterpiece, “The Burial of the Count of Orgaz”, has never left the walls of Parish Church of Santo Tomé.

Girona

  • Figueres has a museum that honors the one-time local Salvador Dali, who is also buried there.
  • Visit the Eiffel Bridge that Gustave Eiffel built before he started the famous building in Paris.
  • Visit the Arabic baths, Banya Arabs, which date back to the 13th Century when the Moors had long been banished from the city.
  • Walk across the 9th Century Carolingian and 15th Century walls gives breathtaking views of Girona’s old town and the surrounding mountains.

La Sagrada Familia Cathedral in Barcelona

  • Means Church of the Holy Family
  • A UNESCO World Heritage Site with 2 million visitors per year.
  • The three entrances represent the birth, death and glory of Jesus: The Nativity Façade, The Death Façade and the Glory Façade.
  • Antonio Gaudi, not the original architect but devoted the last 40 years of his life to working on the Cathedral, is buried in the Sagrada Familia crypt.
  • Construction on the church is predicted to be finished by 2026; when it is finished, there will be 18 towers symbolizing the 12 apostles, the 4 Evangelists, Mary and Jesus.

See you in Spain! A perfect blend of ancient and modern awaits you! Please note that temperatures in September average 87-75 degrees F.

If you have any questions at all about your upcoming trip, please email our wonderful events team at events@livepure.com.

There’s a real need for supplementation

We all know the importance that vitamins and minerals play in our health. Vitamins are essential for growth, development, and normal cell function. Minerals are important for building bones, making hormones, and regulating the heartbeat. You would think that eating a variety of foods would meet all of your nutritional needs. Well, that’s not always the case. Americans, in particular, lack the recommended amount of vitamins and minerals they need.

There are many reasons for nutritional deficiencies: genetically modified foods, deficient soil, the shipping, processing and cooking of foods, poor digestion, environmental factors (pollution, water, etc.), medications, and more. According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, 43 different vegetables and fruits have declined in protein, calcium, phosphorus, iron, riboflavin (vitamin B12), and vitamin C over the past half century.1

Studies show…

The consumption of vitamins A, C, D and E is inadequate in 25-70% of the U.S. population. Americans are also 38% deficient in calcium, 45% deficient in magnesium, and 97% deficient in potassium.2

To make matters worse, Americans exceed the recommendations for sodium, saturated fats, refined grains, solid fats and added sugars. All of this can lead to chronic disease, such as high blood pressure, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and various forms of cancer.

The American Cancer Society estimates that 30% of deaths are related to obesity, lack of activity and poor nutrition.3

What are we to do?

Eat a healthy diet, exercise, get adequate sleep, and choose a daily multivitamin supplement. Overall, Americans should increase their consumption of foods rich in vitamins A, C, D and E as well as folate, calcium, magnesium, potassium, and fiber.

Two things I want to highlight are vitamin D and fiber, both essential to overall health.

Vitamin D is critical for bone health, muscle strength, immune function, and the reduction of inflammation. It promotes calcium absorption in the gut. The recommended daily allowance of vitamin D is 600 IU and yet the average intake is 156-404 IU.4 Without sufficient vitamin D, bones can become thin and brittle. Together with calcium, vitamin D also helps protect older adults from osteoporosis.

Fiber is critical to better health for blood sugar control, improved digestive health, weight loss, lowered risk of heart disease and diabetes, and more. Most Americans are not getting enough. Fiber is found in fruits, vegetables, whole grains and legumes. It helps relieve constipation, helps you maintain a healthy weight, and lowers the risk of diabetes and heart disease.

Let your health care providers (including doctors, pharmacists, and dietitians) know which dietary supplements you’re taking so that you can discuss what’s best for your overall health, and avoid any drug-nutrient interactions. Avoid supplements with sweeteners, colors, artificial flavors, preservatives, or fillers.

Please note that dietary supplements are products intended to supplement the diet. They are not drugs and, therefore, are not intended to treat, diagnose, mitigate, prevent, or cure diseases.

People are talking about Rally28!

Let’s face it, losing weight and breaking bad habits are hard to do. But, I’m sure you can agree that having a “buddy” can help you stay motivated when it comes to exercising and eating healthy. That special friend or family member might be all it takes to keep you focused on your journey to Whole Health.

You’ll definitely find that support with PURE’s Rally28 program. We’re seeing it happen here in our PURE corporate community, and among our members and Independent Business Owners (IBOs) out there! You’ll find support in our Facebook community as well. Consider it your accountability group where you can find encouragement, stay focused, achieve your goals, and most importantly … have fun!

See what others are saying about the transformative power of Rally28

“I am so fired up about the lifestyle changing nutritional system called Rally 28.  My wife, Jana, and I believe in healthy living and in the power of proper nutrition, rest, hydration and exercise. The first few days were the toughest because of the bad habits we had let set in and the sugar cravings that often ruled our food choices throughout the day. But within a few days we were loving the process.  And our results were UNBELIEVABLE!” – IBO Doug Young

“… On Rally28, I began feeling and seeing results within 10 days. I still have some work to do which is why I will continue using Rally28 until I have achieved my goal. Wonderful program! Even if you are already in shape, I would encourage everyone to try this program. I have not felt so invigorated in years!” – IBO Lyndle Spencer

“I have been able to lose weight every week since my weight loss journey started in November 2016. Since then I’ve lost 75 pounds. I still have a lot to lose but with all your products, it’s given me an edge that I haven’t had ever. My weight has been up and down all my life. My goal is to get it off and keep it off.” – IBO Carol Gardner

“I always feel so much better when I am eating good food. This program was easy to follow and had a step-by-step process.” – IBO Jill Parton

“…I highly recommend Rally28 and strongly emphasize the importance of appropriate physical activity along with the Rally28 products. Muscle weighs more than fat but a toned and healthier body is far more valuable than a lighter, flabby, saggy body. My goal was to improve my health by toning my body … and I achieved that. I will continue to follow Rally28, as well as exercise, to further improve my health. If I can do it, so can you. Forget coulda, shoulda, woulda. I did!” – IBO Angela Johnson

“I needed to lose weight! I have done Rally28 before. I used to weigh 245 pounds! I knew that even at 225 pounds, I was still overweight. I was often tired and it was difficult to do simple tasks. I wanted to do Rally28 not only for me but for my family, too! I want to be able to run around and participate in activities with them without being exhausted. I want to be able to push our son and do races as we used to. My wife rallied with me. People started noticing my weight loss and that encouraged me to keep going. As I saw the numbers dropping on the scale, I said I can keep this going. The Rally has a great system with great products that work! I want to thank PURE for giving me and my family all the products we need to lead a healthier life! And yes, everyone in my family consumes the products!” – IBO Tony Rebimbas

A message from our CEO

Dear Valued Members and Independent Business Owners,

I am very excited to announce the launch of our new brand, PURE: People United Reaching Everyone. Our business has grown and evolved over the years, and we have a firm foundation on which to fulfill our mission. Our new name and logo reflect the pride we have in our global community, one that is united by a common purpose to create a better world.

When we asked the question, “What do you need to be fulfilled?” we found that a life in which physical health, financial health and purpose are in balance is when we can truly experience Whole Health. In my opinion Whole Health is for everybody. It’s about living a life that integrates all of our legitimate needs – exercise, nourishment, sleep and purpose. We can achieve this lifestyle with our PURE portfolio of nutrition, performance, weight management, and skincare categories that were created for excellence and effectiveness, as well as our lucrative business opportunity.

Changing a brand is a process that takes time and can involve many steps. In the coming months we will be updating our material and online presence with our new brand. Genesis PURE, Inc. is our parent, or legal, name. PURE: People United Reaching Everyone, is how we refer to ourselves.

We realize you may have a lot of questions regarding the rebranding process. To help you, we’ve compiled a Frequently Asked Questions document that is located in the Virtual Back Office (VBO) library. We will update this document as we continue to roll out our new identity among all platforms.

A new Brand Style Guide has been  developed to provide the foundation for consistent application of PURE across all media. Please note that you can access the new logo and style guide on your VBO, as well as change any information. Your replicated website on genesispure.com and livepure.com will be exactly the same and both will continue to work. Using these standards correctly builds strong brand awareness, allowing us to maintain our position as an industry leader.

We’ve been delighted by your excitement as we prepared for this launch of PURE. This initiative is a reminder of the value and impact of our mission to enrich lives through smart, simplified nutrition and a supportive culture.

Live PURE,

Daren Hogge

Making a world of difference

IBOs James and Taryn Leiker and their two children are shining examples of People United Reaching Everyone. In February 2016, they discovered the King’s Ransom — a U.S. non-profit organization whose goal is to build 1,000 homes for the extremely poor living in Nicaragua.  It was an opportunity they couldn’t pass up. To them it perfectly represented the Whole Health lifestyle.

They set a goal to raise enough money to build five homes. This sparked an interest in their children, Reece (12) and Channing (8), to start their own business selling homemade laundry detergent in order to raise money to help the cause. They were determined to build five homes just like their parents had, with a goal to raise $26,000 in twelve months.

Reece and Channing used recycled Genesis PURE™ Superfruit bottles to hold their detergent, secured a corporate sponsor to cover expenses, and launched their campaign in July 2016.  Every Saturday morning they set up a booth at the local farmer’s market. By September they raised $5,200 for the first house; they raised $17,000 by November; and, in January they were invited to Nicaragua to see their houses being built.

During her Nicaragua visit, Reece witnessed the families living in poverty and knew this was a project she would always be proud of. Upon returning to the States, Reece and Channing raised over $10,000 in a few weeks, exceeding their five-house goal in seven months! To date, the Leiker family has raised $60,758.42 which will help build more than eleven homes. Taryn will be returning to Nicaragua in July 2017.
