ATEoftheWeek_0216Q: I had a team member mention that they had someone that had an issue with Daily Build.  When they take the product, they smell like vitamins.  Any thoughts on what would be causing this?

A: In some individuals, B vitamins such as thiamin and choline can cause a sulfur-like odor, either excreted through the urine or sometimes in the breath and through sweat. This is especially possible in sensitive persons, when products consumed contain B vitamins above the basic percent Daily Values (%DV). The B vitamin levels in Daily Build are quite a bit higher than the basic %DVs. As a result, we suggest they consume less than the full 1 ounce (30 mL) serving.  Try half this amount and they likely won’t experience nearly as much unpleasantness from the odor of the unabsorbed excess. If this still causes an unpleasant odor, try half the amount every other day.  While nutritionally this is less than optimal, we certainly want them to receive some benefit from using the product without the unpleasant side effect. A low-carb diet could also cause your body odor to escalate. These diets often push your body to burn fat at a rapid rate and may result in a fruity-smelling sweat and urine. Broccoli, cabbage and cauliflower can also cause body odor from the sulfur (not to be confused with Organic Sulfur).

Q: I have twelve bottles of Superfruits that expired on 8/2015. Can I still use them?

A: There are many factors that play into how long a product lasts, including proper handling and storage of product. Consuming products by the Best By date allows for optimal flavor and nutrition. If you have properly stored the bottles and the seals are intact then it is safe to consume the product. But please note the flavor and other sensory attributes of the product may have changed with age. Use good judgment if the smell, flavor or consistency of the product is not consistent with other bottles or containers you’ve used in the past.

Q: I had a team member mention that when they take Daily Build, they smell like vitamins.  They can smell it coming out of their pores.  Any thoughts on what would be causing this?

A: We haven’t heard of this problem before as a result of taking Daily Build.
