It’s not a race, it’s a journey. Enjoy the moment!

meThis past year I was the recipient of a racing bike, thanks to an incredible group that raises money to help support a local charity. A portion of what they raise goes toward new bikes (including all the gear) for their top fundraisers.

Now mind you, I haven’t been on a bike in over 20 years. It’s not that I can’t ride a bike, I just haven’t had the opportunity to do so. My exercise usually involves walking my dog, or taking my children to their various activities. Otherwise, I sit and I write and then I sit some more. So, when I was asked if I was interested in receiving a free bike, I literally jumped out of my seat. The only caveat was I had to register for an annual bike event sponsored by the charity, and to cross the start line at the event. Well, I was ready for a new challenge, and I knew I could do more than simply cross the start line.

I received my beautiful blue bike this past November. I’ve been riding in my neighborhood to get my biking legs back. A few weekends ago I was invited to ride with some other bike recipients at Texas Motor Speedway. I made the decision to get up at 6:00 a.m., on my birthday nevertheless, and drive an hour to join this group. I rode a total of 10 miles!

I’m sharing this story with you now because here at Genesis PURE, we launched Fit Club, a community of fitness-minded people that want to make nutrition and fitness part of their lifestyle. This nine-week program is designed to motivate with weekly challenges, videos, tips and prizes. We want to help you get your new year into high gear. I joined, along with other GP employees, and we are setting out to make a difference in ourselves and the community.

Cycling is a challenge I’ve committed to and I want to encourage you to do the same, whatever your means of getting fit may be. I am motivated to make a difference in my own health.

Make it your mission in 2016 to start a new sport or a new exercise routine. Do you have a specific fitness goal? If I had to make a guess, I’d say it might be to build muscle, lose fat, gain or lose weight, get toned, increase strength, improve performance, or any combination of these.

What’s next after you’ve figured out your goal?

Put together a workout routine that is aimed at helping you reach that goal. For instance, I am going to cycle at least 10 miles every week for a month. I will increase those miles once the winter months are over and the weather improves.

Genesis PURE’s GPS products play a big part in my goal as well. I drink ENERGY and E2 before and during my workouts. And, I follow up with Recovery to support my muscles, and provide my body with much needed protein and carbohydrates as well as vitamins, minerals, creatine and amino acids. These products give me just the support I need.

So why not start the new year on the fit side. Join Fit Club today! Click here! The first rule of Fit Club is to always talk about Fit Club, so share the news with friends and family and get them on board.

I’d like to leave you with this thought:

“No matter how many mistakes you make, or how slow you are progressing, you’re still way ahead of everyone who isn’t trying.”
